Church and School partnership award
We are delighted to announce that the Diocesan Board of Education have made this award in recognition of “the many impressive and creative ways in which Aughton Christ Church school and church have worked so hard together to explore, nurture and live out a set of core values both in the school and the community.”
Christ Church School
The Governing Body has a new chairman, Stuart Jackson. He takes over from Ross who remains on the Governing Body until his retirement in April.
Ross, in fact, has been chair for no less than 22 years. He writes: “It has been a privilege to serve as chair for our school’s Governing Body with so many capable and committed members prepared to serve the school in all kinds of ways. The good news is that our school (and the Governing Body) is in great shape, as shown by the recent OFSTED and SIAMS reports. More to the point, there is a great feel to the place, a wonderful ambience as shown by how many parents apply to the school each year.”
First Sunday, a church prayer meeting.
As we prepare for Ross’ retirement in April, we are having a monthly prayer meeting for our church on the first Sunday of the month in the Ministry Centre 10.00 – 10.30 am. The next one is on Sunday, 3 December
Advent for Everyone
This year’s book by Tom Wright is now available at the back of church and in the Ministry Centre. At £6, cheaper than Amazon.
Last year well over 100 church members used Wright’s Advent Book, based on Luke’s Gospel. This year he takes us through the Acts of the Apostles.
Remembering the Fallen
Each Remembrance Sunday over the last 15 years we have heard the story of one of the 19 men whose names we commemorate each year. Now thanks to the hard work of our webmaster, Liz Wainwright, you can read them on our church website
Just go to the ABOUT section and click REMBERING THE FALLEN.
Decorating the Ministry Centre Christmas tree
Calling all our youth age 11+ to come along this Thursday 23 November 7:30-9pm to decorate our Ministry Centre Christmas tree in preparation for the Christmas Fair.
We will be having some pizza to keep us going. Parents please let Sarah or Fiona if your young person can come along.
Christmas Fair
Next week is our annual Christmas Fair and there are lots of ways in which you can be involved. This is to raise money for the Queenscourt Hospice.
We are looking for helpers on the day. If you are able to donate chocolate, pre loved items and cakes then please let contact Claire Heyes.
We are also offering reflective stations in church this year entitled ‘Hush before the Rush’. If you are feeling the need to find some much needed quiet time before the Christmas rush then why not visit us in church on the day.
Table 49 “Beers and Carols”
On Monday 18 December Table 49 will be hosting Beer and Carols at Wetherspoons in
Ormskirk. This is a great opportunity to share the light of Christ.
Please contact Geoff
Fallows if you are able to attend the event and join in singing.

Special offer to members of Christ Church
We, like most Anglican Churches, insure the Church and Ministry Centre with the Ecclesiastical Insurance Group, which this year came first out of 47 insurers of homes by the independent Fairer Finance Organisation.
Until 31 October 2018 every new household policy taken out with them will generate a charitable donation of £130 for Christ Church Aughton.
All you need to do is call Ecclesiastical on 0800 783 0130 quote TRUST 130 and ask them, if you take out cover with them, to nominate Christ Church Aughton.
Giving to Christ Church
If you are considering supporting Christ Church through planned financial giving, please see one of the wardens (Jaime Craig, David Dennison, Jenny Rawcliffe and Ann Roberts,) who will advise you what to do. Alternatively, you may enquire at the parish office or speak with Neil Heyes, the PCC treasurer.
Our charity number is 1129036. If you give cash in the offering, please consider using one of the blue envelopes at the back of church for one-off gifts. It simply means that we can probably increase your offering by 25% through Gift Aid. Please write your name – otherwise we cannot claim a tax refund. If you use these regularly, it would probably be easier to belong to the envelope scheme. Contact Jen Ray (421671).
You may support our ministry financially by sending a text to 70070. Just text CCAX99 £aa, where aa is the amount to be given.
